Jeffrey Walker
Edison Drama Teacher/Director
Entering his 19th year as an educator, Jeffrey Walker also begins a new phase in his career as the theatre teacher and director at Thomas Edison High School for the fourth year now.
Prior to joining Fairfax County Public Schools, for nine years, Mr. Walker ran the theatre program at Eastern View High School. He began his teaching career at Culpeper Middle School. Along with beginning to advanced level theatre courses, Mr. Walker has also taught public speaking. Between the two Culpeper schools, Mr. Walker produced and directed more than 40 plays and musicals (one-acts and full-length productions) including Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Grease, You Can't Take it with You, Anime Momotaro, The Crucible, See How They Run, Romeo and Juliet, The Diary of Anne Frank, Doubt, and West Side Story.
He co-founded Culpeper’s summer musical enrichment program with his wife (a music educator) producing shows such as Les Miserables (school edition) and Hairspray Junior. Mr. and Mrs. Walker reside in Culpeper where they raised two college-aged sons.
Aside from theatre education, Mr. Walker is also a part-time theatre journalist and critic, having written for both print and online publications, most recently as a contributor to DC Theatre Scene and Broadway World (.com).
Prior to a career in education, Mr. Walker was active in community and professional theatres in Southwest Virginia for many years, dividing his time between performing and directing.
