Meet Jeffrey Walker
Edison Drama Teacher/Director

Serving as the theatre and film teacher at Thomas Edison High School since 2017, Jeffrey Walker has nearly 25 years’ experience as an educator. He began his teaching career in Culpeper County, serving at Culpeper Middle School and Eastern View High School.

Over the last 20-plus years, his directing and producing credits include productions large and small, such as The Diary of Anne Frank, Mamma Mia, The Laramie Project, Into the Woods, Clue, The Addams Family, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Anime Momotaro, It’s A Wonderful Life - The Musical, The Crucible, See How They Run, The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, and West Side Story. Among the productions of which he is most proud are two original adaptations of literary classics: Dracula: An Undead Romance (produced in Culpeper two times and here at Edison), and Peter Pan and Wendy, which was a collaboration with Synetic Theatre.

Since joining FCPS, Mr. Walker has served as a steering committee member for Cappies of the National Capital Area (The Cappies – NCA), the student-led organization celebrating high school theatre productions.

Mr. Walker has also worked as a part-time theatre journalist and critic, having written for both print and online publications, such as DC Theatre Scene and Broadway World (.com).

Prior to a career in education, Mr. Walker was active in community and professional theatres in Southwest Virginia, dividing his time between performing and directing. In recent years, he has returned to professional and community theatre. He appeared in a murder mystery evening for Dark Horse Theatre Company, conducted summer musical theatre camps, and directed two award-winning productions at Fauquier Community Theatre: Driving Miss Daisy and Noises Off.
